An Giang is an important hub in the inter-regional relations between the Mekong Delta - Can Tho and Cambodia. However, besides the socio-economic development, the process of urbanization and industrialization, the amount of wastewater and solid waste is increasing and the quality of the environment has been reduced. Currently, garbage dumps in 11 districts, towns and cities in the province are in overload, not being handled according to regulations, causing serious environmental pollution.
In order to accelerate the thorough treatment of seriously polluted landfills and the treatment of solid waste in the province. The People's Committee of An Giang province has invested in building solid waste treatment complexes in severely contaminated areas.
Binh Hoa Commune, Chau Thanh District is one of the first projects deployed by the province with total area of 25 ha. The first phase of the project will be implemented in early 2016. After more than a year of construction, the project has been commissioned and officially put into operation in May 2017.
